The famous horror movie villain comes from a interesting making.  When shooting the original 1978 film the production designer, Tommy Lee Wallace picked up two mask from a magic shop; a clown mask and a William Shatner as Captain Kirk in Star Trek.

Tommy first came in with the clown mask and thought, Oh, that’s kind of scary.  Then he put on the Shatners mask, and thought, Oh, it’s perfect.  They sprayed painted it white and made the eye holes bigger and the rest is history.
